Rough Ring Strength Training at HomeIt happens that today is second Rough Strength birthday. So I decided to come up with something special and fundamental at the same time. I have written lots of articles on training and nutrition but I never wrote a whole piece on why I think Rough Strength method is superior to others for my goal, as well as for any strength-related striving.  I can speak about this whole day but I won’t bore you to death with long intros and will get straight to the point.

What Is Rough Strength?

I want people to have clear understanding of what Rough Strength is. Word ‘rough’ is used here meaning not only ‘hardcore’ but first and foremost ‘acquired without any luxuries’, ‘with minimal equipment’. It’s type of strength training you can use at home with anything you have at hand.

I don’t want it to be confused with trendy street workout or crossfit, or gymnastics, or powerlifting etc. Continue reading

5 Sandbag Strength Training Benefits…So I was sitting and thinking: “Why sandbag strength training isn’t really popular nowadays?” Actually two answers came up to my mind. Firstly, sandbag training is really tough. It’s not for all those boys and girls that attend fitness clubs to get social. It’s not for all those fat rich people that are got so used to luxury and comfort that they drive to fitness club to walk on treadmill. Best way to get ripped with kettlebells

Kettlebells will definitely help you in your pursuit of getting ripped. Pick exercises that involve whole body into action. In the other words most metabolically demanding exercises. Squats, Clean & Presses, Clean & Squats, Swings, Snatches. You can try pairing different exercises. For example, perform Swing, then Clean, then Clean & Press, then Snatch. It’s one rep. Also you can try interval training. Try 15:15 or 30:30 work/rest ratio. You can alternate your kettlebell exercises with jump rope. There is no best way. All ways are acceptable and effective. If you want to get ripped then focus on your diet at first place. Drink plenty of water. Eat less carbs. Eat less overall. Implement short rest intervals in your training. Getting ripped is more a matter of discipline than using kettlebells.

Master Kettlebells and Dumbbells – Interview with Yahont (Part 2)

So I should bother with dumbbell training.

Yes. If you don’t have a dumbbell, you can buy a handle (or you can find a master who will make a handle for you) where you will screw a pair of bolts into each side. Just look at my dumbbell.

It’s very comfortable. If I use less plates, then I just take shorter bolt. It’s practical. If I need thicker handle, then I just switch handles. I have such set of handles: 37.5 mm standard handle, 50 mm handle and 62 mm or 2.5 inch handle.
